I spent years explaining ADHD before I recognised it in myself.
I knew the neurology. I could draw the diagram. I had explained executive function impairment clearly and confidently.
And then, after my own diagnosis, I sat somewhere and watched myself do the exact thing I'd described to patients that same week. The map was perfect. I was its author. The car still wouldn't start.
