According to Axios, President Trump unloaded on Benjamin Netanyahu in an expletive-laden call Monday. As one U.S. official summarized President Trump’s remarks to Axios: “You’re fucking crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.” President Trump put the brakes on Israel’s plan to strike Beirut.

Two U.S. officials say President Trump warned that bombing the Lebanese capital would further isolate Israel and was threatening to blow up his Iran negotiations. Israel now says it no longer plans to hit Hezbollah targets in Beirut.

Netanyahu’s office pushed back, saying his position “remains the same.”
