Mamdani’s victory is meaningful symbolically of course. But in the long run under the totalizing conditions of liberal democracy and the progressivism he generally subscribes to, Muslims in America will go the way every faith group has gone before them, increasingly less religious year by year, with religion becoming more of a cultural identity marker than an ideological and firm doctrinal commitment.

My view is actually that one of the best ways to destroy Islam in the West is to make integration into a spiritually cancerous American society easy, and his win will accelerate that.

In the short term I of course enjoy drinking the tears of the Jewish donor and media class. For them, the race was never really about NYC at all. It was about stopping the dam from breaking on the Israel Question. I think the right and left are rapidly approaching the breaking point on this issue, and I expect instability to only increase as they try and yank us back into the pre-Gaza lull.

All this however doesn't change the fact that in the medium and long term, the trend of Muslims being swallowed up in the way pretty much every genuinely religious group has been swallowed up and refashioned as yet another privatized protestant husk of religion will only accelerate. The only ones who have retained themselves and their traditions are basically the rigid ones: Orthodox Jews, Amish, Tablighis in the hood, etc etc.

That's the irony of it all. Fearmongers warn us of an Islamic takeover of America. But what's actually happening is the opposite: America has taken over the Muslim mind.
