If it was possible to go back, I think I’d choose when my kids were 3 and 6.
Both potty trained, super chatty, and everything we did felt like a little adventure. Especially in the summer. I only worked part-time back then, so we had extra days to spend together.
Now, every time a new event or exhibit comes to town, I get excited for a moment before I realize they’re too old for baby animals at the Critter Barn or parachute storytime at the library. Our local adventures feel a little less magical and a lot more expensive.
But our conversations are deeper and our schedule’s more flexible…nobody has to be home for nap time.
But I do still miss the magic of those early years.
