The mystery setting is a gemstone setting technique in which no prongs or metal are visible from the front. It was patented in 1933 by Van Cleef & Arpels and became one of their most recognisable signatures.
Each stone is cut with tiny grooves on its sides and is slid onto a hidden lattice of gold rails underneath so the stones appear to float 💎
