Yesterday my latest Substack post got 31 views in 24 hours (7 views in 12).
My previous post got 97 views in 24 hours.
If that sounds low… it is if I compare the two.
And I’m okay with it.
This isn’t a flex.
If your numbers are lower than mine, that’s okay too, we’re both still building.
Here’s what I’ve learned about growth, engagement, and mindset:
1. Growth isn’t linear.
Some posts will hit. Some won’t. Yesterday’s success doesn’t guarantee today’s. And that’s normal!!!!! Think of growth more like a hockey stick: long periods of steady progress rather than a straight diagonal line.
2. Engagement dips are data, not failure.
31 views isn’t a disaster, it’s a learning opportunity. Every post teaches me what works and what doesn’t 🫶
3. Keep experimenting and DO NOT stop!
If I stopped trying because one post underperformed, I’d never improve. Small wins and small failures compound into growth over time.
4. Mindset matters.
It’s not just about views or subscribers. It’s about learning how to grow my Substack week by week and most importantly enjoying the process.
So yes, my latest post underperformed compared to my others. But it also reminded me that:
• I’m proud of myself for showing up.
• I’m learning as I go.
• I’m building something special.
If there’s one takeaway, it’s this: I’ve seen writers here get 1–5 likes for weeks and then take off the next month. Low engagement now doesn’t mean you’re stuck there. Keep going, you’ve got this!!! ✨
Also this is my first time sharing a photo of myself here (even if it’s just the back of me!!!!! 🤣 It’s a small but meaningful step for me toward sharing my creativity more openly. Another growth moment 🫶
