I adjusted a 4-day-old last Tuesday.
Father brought her in. New dad energy radiating off him. Nervous, proud, terrified, elated, all at once.
The baby had a left lateral head tilt. Birth was fast. Forceful. Her little system was still figuring out what outside the womb feels like.
I used the pressure of one fingertip. Less than the weight of a nickel.
She exhaled. Her head drifted toward center.
The father made a sound I won't describe because I don't have the right words for it.
That moment is why I still show up after 25 years.
