Trump made Bill Pulte the acting head of US intelligence in what I can only say is an obvious move to weaponize our Intelligence Community against political opponents.

He scores 75/100 on my 10-axis risk model. Worst in the field.

- He used federal records to manufacture criminal referrals against Trump's political opponents

- He's under active GAO probe

- He fired his own Inspector General during an investigation of him

- He has never worked in intelligence

- He still runs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

- He and his wife gave ~$1M to Trump in 2024

We know they are up to no good because he somehow bypassed a Senate-confirmed career CIA officer who was named for the role 11 days earlier. Even Senate Majority Leader Thune (R) said: "We don't need a weaponized DNI."

Why it matters: At FHFA, Pulte used federal records to manufacture criminal referrals against Trump's political opponents. Like the opponents or not, that is not how this country and our resources should be run. Now it's political opponents, next it's American citizens.

The DNI controls every classified file the US government holds. The IC-scale version of that pattern is the worst case the office was built to prevent.
