AI aside, every time I read one these commercial fiction books they are waaaay more purple and stuffed with "lyrical" lines than almost anything published as literary fiction these days. Like the stereotype many have of literary fiction prose is closer to an average bestselling Romantasy than anything published in the Paris Review.
