As I grow older, I find more useful to write than to read.
I write every day of the week, while I generally reserve the weekend for reading books. That's not to say I don't read (of course, I read every day too), but the intentional act of slowing down to read is something I do less these days.
Writing forces me to wrestle with my thoughts, my half-formed ideas, my pre-judices, my beliefs, and my wrong convictions.
It is an art that I'd recommend everyone should pick up.
When I was young(er), I used to read more than I used to write. These days, it's the other way around.
