What he describes here is probably the #1 feature of salaried knowledge workers, ie, companies are paying you a salary for your availability when needed, not necessarily to be consistently productive 8h/day 5d/week.

Bullshit jobs is code for the fact that most jobs are so complex that it's hard to describe to someone with no common reference points. This is true despite the fact that lots of jobs are like doctors being on call, no work for days on end on the off chance you're needed urgently
