Lt. Gen. Christopher LaNeve. Former Commander of the 82nd Airborne Division. The same 82nd Airborne that is deploying forward right now with a division-level headquarters for potential ground operations in Iran. LaNeve was also Hegseth's personal military aide.

The Secretary of Defense just installed his own former aide, a man who commanded the exact unit being sent into the Gulf, as the acting head of the entire Army. He did it on a Thursday before a holiday weekend, with Congress on recess and markets closing tomorrow.

You do not make that move to send a message about diversity programs. You make that move to ensure there is zero friction in the chain of command between the Secretary's desk and the deploying force.
