Since 2012, Claire Tabouret has painted a self-portrait every single day. I love this double self-portrait because the two faces fuse together like a contemporary Janus, the Roman god of time and passages. The yellow ruff echoes the extravagant collar worn by Frans Hals in the portrait sculpted by Jean-Joseph Carriès more than a century earlier.
