Flowing droplets of mercury. Special relativity is the reason why this metal is a liquid at room temperatures. The inner electrons of a mercury atom move at a significant fraction of the speed of light and so their relativistic mass increases. This creates a stronger attraction to the nucleus, weakening metallic bonds between mercury atoms.
