The app for independent voices

Excellent comment here from Dave Greene on the ongoing Alex Kaschuta saga. I am sympathetic to the view that there are some things rotten in MAGA world, but dispariaging your friends in this space to the New York Times [or any comparable publication], without even getting 30 peices of silver for your trouble, is deeply wrong.

Here is a sample of the comment that I’m giving should the New York Times ever come knocking to ask if I want to denounce former podcast guests that I don’t agree with. “I’m greatful to [guest] for appearing on my and sharing his forthwrightly his views; it’s a normal aspect of intellectual discussion that people sometimes disagree. I have made my views on the policies of the [insert controversy] well known, and stand by those views. Please do not publish any element of my comments without expressing to your readers that I do not wish to be quoted in your publication”.

You might be tempted to believe something charitable like this if you had never heard of the New York Times or had no understanding of how language works.

But I do know what the NYT is. And I do understand how language works.
