Make money doing the work you believe in

I rather enjoyed writing and adding this paragraph today to the final Manuscript of my book THE DUKES: Sarah’s mother, Susan Mary Wright—Susie, to her friends—came from a much more distinguished, spirited and raffish line than her husband. Her mother was a Wingfield, sister of the 9th Viscount Powerscourt, and the family seat, Powerscourt in Co. Wicklow, was one of the great Irish estates. Susie married Ronald Ferguson as a debutante in 1956 but quickly found English country-house life stifling. Susie was rumored to have had an affair with Prince Philip which her husband seems to have regarded as an honor: “I always suspected that Prince Philip had an eye for Susie,” Ferguson wrote in his memoir, The Galloping Major, a minor classic of the wounded-courtier genre, in whose pages the Major airily dismissed his routine infidelity to his wife as “two brief affairs in 16 years” of marriage.
