Make money doing the work you believe in

Was talking to an agency owner yesterday who's pretty freaked out about AI.

Their whole differentiator has been "beautiful, hand-crafted code." They see themselves as craftsmen.

I asked when a client last actually looked at their code.

Never. They don't know what good code looks like anyway - that's literally why they hired an agency.

And honestly, websites get revamped every few years.

How old is your oldest code even? "Built to last a lifetime" is solving a problem that doesn't exist.

As a bootstrapper I learned this forever ago - the difference between people who ship and those who don't is knowing what not to build. What's not important.

It's wild how married people get to their beliefs about how things should be done. It only holds you back.
