As a child, I loved doing needlepoint, my grandmother taught me. As I grew older and entered my teenage years, I gradually moved away from it because “men don’t do that.” Ah, those cultural narratives…
Lately, I feel drawn to it again - to embroidery, to exploring ways of returning to it and reconnecting with hands-on creation. The child within me is immensely joyful. I feel like I’ve owed this to my little self for a long time.
It feels as though the pieces of the mosaic have come together, like stitches in a pattern, and that the time has come.
