A few weeks ago, I mentioned the UK dance chart No.1 of one of my favorite funk tracks of 1983: You Can’t Hide (Your Love From Me) by David Joseph.

In the UK, it went all the way.

In the US… almost.

The song reached No.2 on the dance chart, and stayed there for six (!) consecutive weeks.

So close.

But never quite making it to the top.

The reason?

It was being held off by something far bigger.

Thriller.

Sometimes it’s not about falling short…
