Today Walter Gibbons would have turned 72.

He passed away far too early in 1994, just 40 years old, from AIDS-related illness.

But what he left behind…

Foundations.

Walter wasn’t just a DJ or remixer.

He helped define what the 12-inch could be, stretching, looping, rebuilding tracks for the dancefloor in ways no one had really done before.

One of the true architects of this newsletter’s world.
