When I was watching Pope Francis’ funeral on TV today I was very moved by the beautiful panikhída memorial service offered by the patriarchs of the Eastern Catholic churches.

I spent the morning teaching, but I’m watching the playback of the funeral now. Church history is long, and there will be many centuries to determine the legacy of Francis, but now we lay the Holy Father, the successor of St Peter, to rest and there is only prayer and hope in the resurrection. May God bless him and let His light shine upon him, and may He welcome him into the kingdom. Ora pro eo.

Pope Francis was buried today. We still have a duty to pray for his soul. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

A bittersweet day—my parents’ wedding anniversary and my Baptismal anniversary. I recall the celebrations of the past when they were both alive. But I pray that they are now enjoying the Beatific Vision in heaven. And I rest in the hope that someday we will be together again.

Me watching Conclave (film):

  • “Beautifully filmed.”

  • “Yep; nobody who wants to be pope, should be pope.”

  • “If it's a homily, he would have already been standing up.”

  • “Lovely shot!”

  • “A bishop wouldn't call a homily a ‘sermon’ unless he meant it as a jab.”

Know your place.

Sometimes it’s to shout from the rooftops.

Sometimes it’s tucking a little into bed.

Sometimes it’s cleaning the garage.

Sometimes it’s volunteering.

Sometimes it’s working hard for the money.

Sometimes it’s letting those who are chosen do the work, do the work.

Pray for the Conclave…that’s our place.

We are planting some of these bushes in our garden this year and I’m! so! excited! Truly one of my favorite plants. (Yes we are getting a garden but lest you think I’m about to become one of those homesteading influencers please know I told the landscaper “the only two things I want are color and ease. Pretty colors, and me not needing to do much work.” 😂)

Blessed are the bleeding hearts.

These Mormon girls stopped by me in the gas station to invite me to worship tomorrow. I told them I had be at Mass at 11 AM because I’m Catholic. Sweethearts! They are so young though. Scary to think they would be out and about in the north side of my town (a rough place).

Simple. Accurate.

If you see all the hullabaloo about Pope Francis and wonder if it's too much... I'd like to explain a bit.

We Catholics don't worship any human being except Jesus Christ, and Pope Francis was a sinner.

...See; those two facts should explain it all... but, I'll connect the dots.

Pope Francis was imperfect like Jesus' apostle, Simon Peter. Pe…

I am learning the power in approaching each person I encounter with the thought that they are a unique and unrepeatable image of Almighty God.

Encountering someone then becomes a mysterious and intriguing opportunity for discovery… A quiet thrill, if I'm committed enough to this sacred reality!

When we focus only on a person’s flaws, we stop seeing their humanity.

Today was an incredibly busy day at work but fruitful and rewarding. We had three classes of 4th graders at the museum this morning for field trips. Then I led two ninety minute public tours in the afternoon almost back to back. Feeling exhausted but definitely worth it because I love my job.

With all of the negative things happening in the world today, sometimes we need to put things into perspective. There are definite benefits to putting devices down and spend a few minutes looking at nature and its beauty. They say even watching a sunrise has over ten benefits to your health. It can improve mood, inspire awe even reduce inflammation. When sunlight stimulates the retinas in your eyes it produces serotonin the bodies feel-good chemical. Agree.. That is the bright side of life. The dark side is eclipsing the bright side. WHO intends to control humanities health with the upcoming May vote on transferring medical crisis decisions to WHO. Washington is embracing it 100%. A political statement is "Jo and Ho must Go"!

The Japanese people had a massive protest against this initiative, but US mass media ignored the event! All is silent in the US. Sad. Where is Tucker?
