Why aren’t more media personalities talking about this latest Veterans Affairs change affecting Veterans? Oh, right, we’re on the brink of WW3 with escalating political violence and illegal state sponsored arrests, politicization of and domestic deployment of troops.
The issue isn’t JUST the blatant discrimination and refusal to treat patients without implicit and explicit bias or a misuse of patient data, these new guidelines tip us over the edge into authoritarianism and autocracy.
The numbers don’t lie:
1 out of 10 Veterans suffer from substance use/abuse disorders (SUD) and the rate goes to 1 in 2 for co-occurring mental health and SUD for Iraq and Afghanistan Vets (1)
1 out of 3 female Vets experience sexual assaults/MST, while the rate is 1 out of 50 for males (2)
The unadjusted suicide rate (out of every 100,000) for Veterans rose from 23.3 in 2001 to 34.7 in 2022 (3)
