At the current progress of AI, I’m not even sure humans will be doing political science research in 5 to 10 years. I raised this point at a conference dinner with other professors last week, and views around the room were mixed. There was a good amount of, “Surely AI can’t tell what good ideas are!” type comment, but the closer people were to the tools itself, the more they shared my skepticism.
