In an attempt to make this place yet another home for inane thoughts:

I watched The Consequences of Love last night. On Mubi, which was thought to be problematic and now turns out it isn’t and everyone’s apologised for funding arms. Or something. Anyway, the film is incredible. The main character is remarkable, trapped in cycle of boredom hell and the unravelling as to why is so gripping and darkly funny. Loved this and I wish there were more films that started with an incredibly long shot of someone on a travelator.

It felt like a direct tonic to watching the new Super Mario Galaxy film on Friday which was like speed for the eyeballs, with some good jokes and an overall feeling of emptiness. But still, the kid liked it and that was two hours of Easter holiday parenting covered so I guess that’s a win.
