The other defect in the proofs, as classically formulated: they do not make it sufficiently clear how the result of the proof (God, the infinite) contains the way we have traversed to arrive at it within itself. The proofs seems to terminate in an entity which is in itself indifferent to the journey of the mind. Another way of putting this: the God of the proofs (the infinite) seems to only have an extrinsic relation to the finite - “creation.” If this were truly the case - if the End did not contain the Way - the proofs would be impossible.

The “elevation of the mind to God,” by contrast, should show how we are accomplishing Spirit’s return to itself. Our knowledge of God is God’s knowing Himself in and through us.
