It’s a self-selection problem. The only people who surrender their current social network for an ideologically pure one are ideological puritans. Is that your idea of a good time? Hanging out with gobs of people trying to outdo each and police each other in service to an ideology?

That sounds like a mid-tier level of Dante’s Inferno to me.
