This Age of Discovery map hangs in my study as a constant reminder of the call to adventure. I bought it in a fabulous map shop in Harvard Square in 2000.

I keep seeing more people who are engaged in politics expressing disinterest or dissatisfaction with writing about politics and wanting to make a turn toward things like fiction, culture—but not culture wars—art, etc. It’s the best possible thing that could happen right now.
