If you’re attempting to use Substack as a business, I can see using Notes strategically as a way to drive traffic to your publication.

But …

If you’re here mainly for fun and community, it’s probably better to treat them as almost two separate entities.

Notes = a kinder/gentler way to satiate your social media “addiction” … and ideally makes some new friends.

Publication = a place to post stuff that requires more space/time than would be optimal for the more “social” Notes feed.
