Was Iran trying to get a nuclear bomb?

1. From Feb 2025 to Jun 2025, it increased its amount of enriched uranium by 50%

2. It now had 400kg of highly enriched uranium, enough for 9-10 bombs

3. This is 60% enriched uranium. Fuel only requires 5% enrichment.

4. It's easy to go from 60% to 90% (weapons grade), it only takes weeks

5. The only country on Earth with such enriched uranium and without a bomb is Iran

6. The IAEA (nuclear watchdog) found 3 secret nuclear sites

7. When Iran didn't respond to this accusation, the IAEA censured it

8. Iran responded to the censoring by saying it would open a 3rd enrichment site in a secret spot

9. Enriched uranium is a gas. Iran had a facility to make it into a metal. Highly enriched uranium metal has no peaceful use, only for nuclear weapons

The traditional counterpoints to this are:

• Supreme Leader Khamenei had a fatwa against nuclear bombs

• Iran was not actually building a nuclear bomb right now

That's true and what Tulsi Gabbard declared, and the consensus opinion of Western Intelligence services.

But this misses the forest for the trees.

It's like saying "A player ran 50 yards to the finish line, and now is one yard away from the line" Why did he run to the line, if it's not to pass it? What's the difference between "I have a nuclear weapon" and "I am a week away from building one"?

10. Former President of Russia, Medvedev, conceded this was the goal.

You can argue whether the world is a better or worse place with Iran's possession of a nuclear bomb. What you can't argue is that Iran was not trying to get one, when it was just stopping short of final assembly, a process that takes a few weeks.
