I worked f***ing hard on the writing of this piece & just as hard on the editing but I feel it was worth it. It’s about my life in 1995 (photo is of me with my nan in December that year; the t-shirt is from a gig by Kim Deal's lo-fi post-Breeders band The Amps… I can’t remember where the slippers came from but probably the Nottingham factory seconds shop where I got pretty much all my clothes around that time), my recent autoimmune diagnosis, transport, time, a great Norwegian film and many other things. I hope 2 or 3 of you might get a moment to read it.
have paywalled 80% of the essay, which I know cuts a lot of Bluesky readers off, but I’ve made quite a few of them free to read lately & wanted to show my gratitude for the paying subscribers who support my work. It’s only £2 minimum to read & for that you get full access to archive for a month.(Or £20 for a full year of writing in your inbox, and full access to my archive, if you prefer.)
