I wish Substack had a Pay What You Can option so I could pay a few dollars when I read an article I appreciate instead of only having the option for a $70 year’s subscription. I cannot afford to subscribe to all the writers I appreciate and would like to support in affordable ways. are you listening?

The word “terrorist” is a meaningless tool of imperial narrative control.
Want to bomb some people? Designate them as terrorists.
Want to silence protesters and dissidents? Say they’re supporting terrorists.
Want sweeping surveillance powers? Say you need them to fight terrorism.
My Trumpy friends always tell me… ‘don’t worry. He’s not going to do 10% of this (tariffs, take over Canada, Panama and Greenland, pull out of NATO, etc.’. This may work but n campaigning, but it doesn’t work in governing. If Trump was just joking around, the Canadians didn’t get the joke. The stock market does not get the tariff joke. Maga fans are not going to appreciate the cut Medicaid joke.
