What a delightful tribute to someone who I think is underrated in Hollywood history.

There was a lot of death around him -- Dean, Mineo, his best friend Natalie Wood, & then HIV hit. Anthony Perkins was a real loss for him (don't think he was close with Hudson -- different circles -- but, ofc, they ran into each other).

I think the quiet life suited him at the time & the ranch & later Palm Springs were good spots for him.

He has a decent filmography -- he's not Dean, but he really never tried to be. I think he liked the typecast "surfer blond, boy next door" roles, though he did some good dramatic work, too.

The thing I remember most from his book was how it had no malice in it. Especially at the time he was covering, that's a pretty big deal.

He aged better than any other star I know of & the "bloomlet" of attention late was well-deserved.

You brought back good memories with this one! Thanks.
