They're both fixable, but not likely in either case. We are becoming more entrenched and unwilling to negotiate. Both sides view the other as evil and when you view someone or a group as evil, you justify your own evil acts in your attempts to thwart them as you inevitably fall into the trap of believing that the means justifies the ends.
