Make money doing the work you believe in
Two things operators are saying this month, often in the same breath:
“Engineering hires are insanely expensive right now.”
“We’re going to deploy an engineer into every department to vibe-code internal tools.”
One of those statements is going to age badly.
Liz Christo (GP, Stage 2 Capital) made the case: There’s a huge cost buried behind v2-through-v10, the maintenance, the edge cases, the security, the compliance — and nobody is pricing it in, because the building part is still sexy and fun.
Build vs. buy isn’t dead. It’s just temporarily wearing a costume.
