I am no longer a young man but I can speak from experience as to how I felt as a young man. The baubles meant nothing to me. I lived in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment and drove a Toyota long after my income could have sustained a McMansion and Porsche. I worked like a savage because the liberal capitalist system was the arena of struggle and I wanted to fight and win in the arena. I didn’t even know what I wanted to win, exactly, but I understood why Alexander wept when they turned back from India.
For spirited young men to be willing to leave behind the arena of the liberal system, there must be another arena for them to enter, fight, and win. Young men of Rome struggled to win the “course of honors” and become consuls. Mid-tier young men in the 90s were already struggling with the lack of an arena to win glory ("Fight Club” being the anthem of that era) and they still had opportunities our Gen Z brothers don’t. What is the course of honors for today’s Gen Z and Gen A man, if he rejects the liberal system? That’s what we need to answer.
Young men, it’s time to leave. I don’t mean leave physically; I mean truly, finally detach psychologically from the world of liberalism. It cannot save you, it is not Jesus, it despises you, and its baubles are not worth your soul.
You are called to greatness, not slavery in a system that will slowly kill you as it mocks you.
