No. And the sooner people stop co-opting the phrase “science of _______” to describe a very narrow band of research from a handful of cognitive psychologists and consultants, the better off the field will be.

Even the slightly more expansive and useful set of “cognitive resources” cited earlier in the piece quickly get boiled down to “managing cognitive load” with sentence stems and kernels. Don’t get me wrong, those are fine practices, but it’s exhausting/annoying to see a post ignoring all the the fantastic writing scholarship out there while positioning an incredibly narrow, cognitivist perspective as a THE Science of Writing™️.
