We long for the past, but most of us don't want all the backbreaking labour and hardship if we're going to be honest.

We don't want the past, but we don't want the present either. We've gained a great deal, but lost a lot too. And some of the things we've gained take away more than they give.

We want to take the best from the past and leave the worst. We want the present to make life better not just faster or easier. And we want to do all this without spoiling the future to make it as good as possible for as many as possible.
