Early design choices can REALLY impact iteration speed.
For my VTOL, I did not consider:
- how to make components like my flight controller easy to access
- delaying selecting a battery pack until after I knew what the weight and center of gravity would be
- orientation of wing tie-down rods limits ability change Cg
- how the foam airfoil technique I used (Armin wing) was designed for wings without two motors and tail connected, leading to durability issues for VTOL designs
Glad I'm learning these things now though and not while building v1 of a full scale eVTOL!
Failing fast and learning early is cliche but very true.
