“Sir, what should I do now if I did not receive a CFA Scholarship?”
Here’s what I told them:
Not getting the scholarship feels like a setback. But in reality, it doesn’t change your direction, only your timeline.
The goal was never the scholarship. The goal was to build a career in finance.
Here’s how to think about it now:
Pause, don’t react. Don’t rush into decisions just because one outcome didn’t go your way. Take a step back and reassess calmly.
Start preparing for the CFA Program anyway. Don’t wait for the scholarship to begin. The next window will come, and you’ll be in a much better position if you’ve already started building your basics
Rework the timeline, not the goal. You can apply again in the next cycle, or plan your attempt when it becomes financially more comfortable.
Keep moving alongside. Work on projects, internships, and consistent learning. That progress matters with or without the scholarship.
The CFA Program is a long-term commitment. Starting it a few months later with better preparation is far better than rushing into it.
So ask yourself: Does the CFA Program still fit where I want to go? If yes, then stay with it and just plan it better.
