🛸 The Voice in the Night: A Tribute to Art William Bell by Robert Kalil – Typical Skeptic Podcast

June 17, 2025 – On what would be Art Bell’s birthday

Tonight, we honor the man who made the strange feel sacred and the fringe feel familiar. Art Bell — the legendary late-night host of Coast to Coast AM — was born on this day, and I can’t let it pass without giving thanks to the man who sparked something deep in my soul.

For many of us growing up on static-filled AM radio waves in the dead of night, Art Bell was our signal through the noise. He gave a platform to voices no one else would — remote viewers, time travelers, whistleblowers, abductees, mad scientists, and mystics — and he did it with respect, curiosity, and authenticity.

🌌 The Effect on the World

Art didn’t just create a radio show — he cultivated a global underground of thinkers, seekers, and skeptics. Long before "podcast" was a word, he built a community that questioned the narrative and opened minds. From the Nevada desert to shortwave radios around the world, his reach was unmatched.

He made conspiracy cool without mocking it. He gave the paranormal a pulse. He made talk radio an artform for the awakened.

🎙️ The Effect on Me

Art Bell is the reason I started the Typical Skeptic Podcast. Full stop.

There was something about the way he listened. He didn’t shut people down — he let them speak their truth, and trusted the audience to decide. That style stuck with me. When I talk to my guests, whether it's someone with a UFO story or a secret space program whistleblower, I hear Art in the back of my head saying, "Open line... east of the Rockies, you're on the air."

He showed me that you don’t need a perfect studio or mainstream approval to make an impact — just a mic, a signal, and a sense of wonder.

📻 The Hall of Fame Episodes

Art Bell's catalog is a time capsule of the human shadow, the cosmic mystery, and the paranormal underground. Some of the most unforgettable episodes include:

  • Mel’s Hole – The infamous bottomless pit story that sparked decades of theories.

  • Red Elk (2001) – A Native American medicine man who revealed the reptilian underworld.

  • Thunder Strikes (Harley SwiftDeer Reagan) – Shared chilling encounters with shadow people and ancient native teachings.

  • The Hopi Elders (1997) – A rare prophetic interview on earth changes and sacred cycles.

  • Robert Ghostwolf – Indigenous mystic and whistleblower who saw the writing on the wall.

Then came the time travelers:

  • Mad Man Marcum – The DIY scientist who may have disappeared into the future.

  • John Titor – A cryptic visitor from the year 2036.

  • Andrew Basiago & Project Pegasus – Secret government teleportation and Mars jump room stories.

Art also wasn’t afraid to cross into the wild:

  • Pamela Stonebrooke – Openly spoke of sexual encounters with reptilians — years before the internet made that common talk.

  • Alien abduction pioneers like David Jacobs, Budd Hopkins, John Mack, and Karla Turner (who some believe were silenced for what they uncovered).

UFO heavyweights like Stanton Friedman, John Lear, and John Keel (Mothman Prophecies) all brought their work to Art’s audience first. He even hosted Robert Monroe of the Monroe Institute to discuss out-of-body travel and astral navigation.

And let’s not forget JC Webster, the fan-favorite fire-and-brimstone caller who became a legend of Coast to Coast lore.

🧙‍♀️ Witches, Spirits & Ghost to Ghost AM

One of the most iconic figures on Art’s show was Dr. Evelyn Paglini — a real-deal witch who brought legitimacy to witchcraft in the '90s. She didn’t just talk magick — she embodied it. Her storm warnings, spellwork advice, and old-world mysticism turned countless listeners into believers.

Then there was Ghost to Ghost AM — Art’s annual Halloween broadcast where the phone lines would light up with ghost stories from real people. No scripts, no filters. Just raw, chilling, human encounters with the other side. For many of us, it was the Super Bowl of paranormal radio.

❤️ The Man Behind the Mic

Art wasn’t just a broadcaster — he was a romantic. He often spoke lovingly of his wife Ramona, who tragically passed in 2006 who was very into witchcraft and was very accepting of Arts eccentric guests. Their bond was deep, and her death changed Art forever. Later, he remarried Airyn, a woman from the Philippines, and their love carried him through his final chapters. Through joy and heartbreak, Art never lost his voice — and never stopped broadcasting when he could. Art had numerous children, his last before he died was Asia Rain Bell

🌠 Closing Thoughts

Art Bell’s legacy isn’t just in reruns or archives — it lives in every independent broadcaster, truth-seeker, and podcaster who dares to ask the forbidden questions. He was covert disclosure before it had a label. And he made the airwaves feel like home.

So tonight, light a candle. Tune into the static. And remember: we’re all just riding the frequencies Art set in motion.

Happy birthday, Art. And thank you.

Heather Wade- Art was succeded by Midnight in the Desert Host Heather Wade, who deeply cared for Art was well. Ive always been a fan of Heather’s shows. She knows how to really handle long form talk radio like Art Did. She has started up and quit podcasting or radio numerous times. Her website is the Kingdom of Nye Radio, and despite art bell critics and critics of Heather, i really enjoyed her show and ive always wanted to have her a guest on my show. Ive also heard one of Art’s sons Vincent is in our community and hes the same age as me, so i would love to have him on my show as well. To hear any cool stories he has about Art
