As someone from Africa, Kenya in particular, I had spent lots of time pitching my ideas to different MSM channels but none of them responded (or usually not respond). I don't know if they ever use emails. And when I am lucky enough to get a reply in one year or so (at a time when i have already moved on), I write an article that won’t even be published because new events have emerged. It wasn't healthy for me mentally 😪. But, when I joined Substack on June 2023, I have been writing what resonates with me, researching well, building my own community, interacting with my audience, ….etc. I am so grateful for building our home. For a long time, writers have been unrewarded yet they see what the average common people doesn't see. I am happy to build my own independent corner where I speak my heart out.
