I have had this question about recommending a Microscope from others and I am NOT a microscope expert, but…
I use a retired used Olympus CX41 and paid $3000 for it. It did not come with a Dark Field Objective.
If you buy a scope, I suggest getting a 10x, 20x and 40x and 100x Oil Objective. Most of my best shots are in 20x (meaning 200x magnification). I am not able to use Dark Field with my 100x Oil. Though it’s not necessary to get all of them.
I have been a professional photographer for over 25 years, so I have my Canon 5D Mark III attached to the Eyepiece. I use Photoshop to edit my photos. Some Microscopists just attach their Smart Phone to their microscope to take photographs and get good results.
Trinocular Head- You want to make sure it has a place to add a video camera on the top that connects to a separate monitor screen for better viewing. Try getting an all-in-one kind of package.
Other microscopists, like Dr. David Nixon, use a computer software program made for microscopy to edit directly from the Microscope camera to their computer screen However, I cannot find one that will work with a Mac.
• The Olympus CX3 seems to be the replacement for the CX41- (Many companies sell them, just do a search online) olympus-global.com/news…
Here is a video the Olympus CX43 Model, which does come with DarkField.

• Also BioMedX is a good brand with many options- biomedx.com/microscopes
• Or Neogenesis is the top of the line, used by Dr. Ana and Dr. David Nixon at over $7000- livebloodonline.com/mic…
• For a cheaper, student grade option, look at AmScopes, tho I can't specifically recommend one – amscope.com/search
• Also check on Ebay, but make sure that it comes With a Dark Field Condenser and a Trinocular head so that you can put a video camera on the top to hook up to a viewing screen. From experience, though, I recommend you get everything you need at once, and not try to piece the objectives and condensers and video system separately, esp if you are buying off Ebay, in case things don’t fit!
