Make money doing the work you believe in

I'm going to get eaten alive for this opinion, but….

Let's talk about Wuthering Heights (and I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to)!

Because it seems that del Toro's Frankenstein is a wonderful work of art, and why does it have to follow the original text…. But Emerald Fennell hasn't read the book and has committed sacrilege. When both have done exactly the same thing.

But of course, Guillermo del Toro is a man who can do whatever he wants even if he destroys the essence of Frankenstein, but Emerald Fennell is a lady of the aristocracy who does horrible things because she feels like it…..

Let's be consistent, please. If for one, there's no need to follow the work, then for the other either. If one has a pass to change whatever he wants (Victor Frankenstein is not Latino, he's a Germanic gentleman, please), the other should too… full stop. Works of art aren't only such when we feel like it…..

And nobody seems to complain that Linton isn't a blond, blue-eyed Englishman, but Shazad Latif, who is Pakistani…. Look, maybe Fennell has decided to invert things that people don't realize.

And that the novel is narrated by Nelly, who hates Heathcliff to death and always speaks ill of him, who says she's a reliable witness about Heathcliff's origins? Because everyone focuses on her calling him things related to gypsies, but she also says he could be a Sino-Hindu mix, and at one point she says he could be Spanish…. Like Jacob Elordi's family, that surname isn't Australian, it's Basque/Spanish!

Besides, gypsies in England were not only Roma; people who are often not Roma, but live a nomadic lifestyle, were and are called gypsies (why did no one complain about Brad Pitt or Jason Fleming in Snatch?).

And a thousand more like that.....
