Hey friends,
Did you know…*raising my eyebrows* ← here
…
Neurodivergent parenting is hard because you’re managing multiple nervous systems that oscillate (cycle & swing).
So if we only chase stimulation (screens, urgency, outings, constant novelty) → everyone gets wired, reactive, then crashes.
Or if we only reduce load (low demand, quiet, “take it easy”) → everyone goes flat, restless, and nothing can start.
-Overstimulation and shutdown on one side; -under-activation and chaos on the other.
The goal is calibration: Enough input to help bodies engage; low enough demand to prevent collapse.
Practically, that can look like: Protein + water before problems; movement before talking; fewer transitions and more previews; short sprints with clear endpoints; decompression built in on purpose; less “fix the behavior,” more “stabilize the state.”
…You’re parenting nervous systems; including yours!
What helps manage the state in your home?
