"What message does attacking hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and the Pasteur Institute as a medical research center in Iran convey?" Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote in a post on X.
"As a specialist physician, I urge WHO, the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and physicians worldwide to respond to this crime against humanity," he added.
The United States and "Israel" have escalated their attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran, destroying a historical medical research facility, as well as a vital bridge connecting the capital to other regions in the country.
US-Israeli aggression targeted and destroyed the Pasteur Institute of Iran, one of the country’s leading public health and research institutions, in a direct attack on civilian and scientific infrastructure in the country.
The strike comes in the context of a broader pattern of attacks on Iran’s healthcare infrastructure. In a March 24 statement, the Iranian Red Crescent said US-Israeli attacks had already damaged 292 medical and relief centers across the country, including hospitals, killing 22 medical personnel and injuring 113 others.
More recent figures indicate the scale has continued to grow. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, at least 316 healthcare and emergency centers across Iran have been damaged since February 28. Meanwhile, Save the Children said on March 31 that healthcare systems in Iran and Lebanon have come under attack on average once every six hours.
