Exactly this. I think it’s safe to say all of us would love to get to a place where we have enough paid subscribers to earn a living but that’s a very small minority of the writers here. I am proud that companies have reached out inquiring about sponsoring my content here. I have 5,000 subscribers here and 100,000 instagram followers but I’ve made more money from sponsors on Substack than on Instagram. I think that speaks to the platform and to audience cultivation and to the evergreen nature of the content here. You can partner with brands you actually use and trust without being a “sell out” and you should be able to earn money in myriad ways without being judged for it.
