I lost glasses, retainers, jackets and scarves on the playground

Lost my mother too young

I found music, writing and a passion for helping

That led me to my vocation for life

I lost a marriage and some confidence

Found education and a career

I lost my way for a while

Found the path I was seeking

Found joy and love

Found peace and redemption

Inside that box?

I left shame and regret

Fake friends and deception

Other people’s opinions

and fear of failure

I left perfectionism

Procrastination

Addiction

Pride and self-harm

That box is pretty full

of what I lost on purpose.
