I sent an open records request to the village of Kronenwetter today. They’re saying they can’t release anything about the allegations and investigative report regarding the new administrator.
But that’s not what the law says. WI courts have rejected citing attorney-client privilege when it comes to investigatory matters of public officials.
It’s also my contention that they violated open records laws in going into close session to consider a general personnel matter (when it was actually about the administrator). Open records law is clear that closed session notices need to be stated with enough specificity that the public can have a reasonable idea what is being discussed, even if the specifics are under wraps. Especially if it involves a public official, which an administrator is.
