Here's a Saturday morning sport challenge for all parents.

Can you NOT talk about their sport this morning?

They get out of bed. Eat their breakfast. Pack their sporting bag — because you don't do it, it's their job, it really is.

You drive them to baseball or football or athletics or tennis or swimming.

Can you NOT talk about their sport?

Not about their technique.

Not about their opposition for today's game.

Not about what they should be doing when they play.

Nothing to do with their sport.

Can you either stay silent — or just chat about the journey, the weather, their dog, their brother or sister, what's on Netflix, tell a funny story about Grandpa?

That's my challenge for you today, mum and dad.

Don't talk sport.
