SNAFU and FUBAR:

SNAFU ("Situation Normal: All Fouled Up") describes a chaotic or messy situation that's typical, while FUBAR ("Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition") signifies a situation that's completely ruined and beyond repair, with SNAFU implying an expected mess and FUBAR a more severe, irreparable disaster, both originating as World War II military slang.
